As I reflect on the learning from this morning relating to connectivism and SAMR, I am both overwhelmed and extremely excited about the learning possibilities available to today's students and students of the future. The idea that I can be in Washington State and be sharing my research and knowledge with someone in another country is absolutely mind-blowing. Having the ability to collaborate with others and gain another depth of knowledge based on what they have learned and their own experiences is amazing.
With regard to SAMR, I feel like so many educators have been stuck in the substitution and augmentation stages for far too long. With the multitude of opportunities available at our fingertips, why would educators not be sharing these possibilities with their students? Just a simple message sent on Twitter could have students in different countries sharing in their learning and collaborating with one another! There are so many amazing opportunities for students to give and receive feedback worldwide! I will definitely be doing more research into how to keep my future classroom on track with using technology to further learning.

Hey, Kristin! I too agree that as educators, we get stuck in the substitution and augmentation phase. I think that part of the reason is that we don't know much about the apps and resources we use either. So it's up to us to make sure we have a comprehensive knowledge of the technology we use.
ReplyDeleteFeedback is HUGE! As nerve wracking as it is, I would rather have someone in a different country question me and ask why I am doing something, while giving me feedback to strengthen my lesson. Great point!
