Lastly today I learned how to make a video blog on my computer. I never thought that would happen because I don't see the need to do that. Not only did I learn how to install and setup this technology I learned how to use it. Then I learned how to share it on Google Drive. I was very nervous that I would lose it on the drive but i didn't. In addition to that app on Chrome i learned that there are multiple apps that can be used within Chrome. I didn't know that and now Chrome will be my preferred browser. Cant wait to use it in the real world

Day 2 reflection
Once again we had an information packed day in this class. Trying to wrap my mind around everything that we learned today is difficult. We learned about SAMR which is about incorporating technology in our school's daily operations. Substitution is about using a new piece of technology and substitute it for an old piece like a overhead projector. We are using it for the same type of information but its a new technology. Augmentation is using a technology to improve an existing tool in our classroom. Those first 2 levels are enhancing while the next 2 transform. Modification is a major redesign. For example, instead of all students taking notes individually they can collaborate on google docs to communicate ideas. This changes our ideas of notes. Lastly is redefinition which is a very different way of thinking. This lesson would include multiple levels of technology and would have a aspect of something not previously used in the classroom. The example was going through a current event in Saudi Arabia from 3 perspectives then doing group work. The lesson concludes with a skye phone call with 3 teachers in Saudi Arabia and Iran. That is a new way to incorporate technology into students learning.

Chris,
ReplyDeleteIt is understandable that it was difficult to wrap your mind around everything from the course session– I can relate! We learned a ton of information to take in in just two short days! You did a really great job breaking down the SAMR model and explaining each portion. I like how you explained it.
I think that making video blog clips was a new idea to a lot of us MIT students! I, for one, have never made a video post before. It was neat to learn how to do. If I do it again? We’ll just have to see! Ha!
Thanks for sharing your perspective of the class.
