July 8 Morning Reflection

My mind is continually exploding with excitement through this course. As we learn the plethora of different ways to incorporate technology into our classroom to enhance student learning, I get so eager to start teaching! Our kiddos live in such an awesome era in which they can collaborate with teachers and students from anywhere through technology. How cool is that?! Kiddos can experience, first hand, conversation through Facetime or Skype with students or teachers from any country. What a cool way to learn! This is a learning style that is "sticky". This type of learning will stick with the kiddos forever, they will always remember these types of experiences and what they took away from that experience.

As a future teacher, I am going to strive to incorporate the SAMR model in many of my lessons. Technology is such a versatile way to enhance student learning. There are an unlimited amount of tools available at our fingertips. This is the generation in which our kiddos are living in, so why not utilize these tools and start teaching kiddos at a young age how to use technology properly and safely to enhance their academics?! Kids love technology. This is an immediate student engagement tool, right? So if our kiddos are engaged and excited to learn, our classroom community and eagerness to learn immediately goes through the roof! We can get our students as excited about learning just like the kiddo in the video this morning with his monster trap!

This was my favorite visual of the SAMR model so I thought I'd share it :)

Technology doesn't stop at enhancing our student's learning but enhanced collaboration between teachers as well! Technology is an awesome reference tool for lesson plans, differentiated teaching, and co-teaching with teachers from another country, etc! An awesome reference tool for us, as teachers will be Coetail. I hope you have all bookmarked this in your browser because it might just safe our life one day when we become teachers.

  1. SAMR is one of those things that you can "name drop" during an interview if a technology question comes up. If the people in the interview don't know what you're talking about....I'd be a bit afraid. It's a pretty well known model, especially in schools that have invested a lot in technology.
