"The Magical watercolor"

The Magical Watercolor- Compliment & Comment
https://www.writeabout.com/2017/06/the-magical-watercolor/

I am not a savvy social media participant or contributor. I do not enjoy being online. My online presence was required to engage with a specific community and I have not been able to sever my online ties without social outcry. I use social media sparingly to read blogs, listen to podcasts and find inspiration for art and teaching creations. Today, I learned how to utilize technology with all its advantages and incorporate social media into the classroom. The teacher who asked her students which social media platform they used and created a class Instagram account was inspirational. Students were able to engage and write in a way that is most comfortable and relatable to the students. My anti-technology perspective and not having devices in the classroom has shifted towards incorporating technology into lessons.

  1. I am like you sometimes in that I think about how little technology I had in school and so then I automatically think it will be distracting or mind-numbing for kids today. It is awesome to see how we can use technology in an educational manner and as a way to expand and develop the knowledge of our students!

  2. Hi Bethany,

I am not especially savvy with social media, either. I already feel like I spend (aka--waste) a lot of time online. There is so much to read and learn, you know?! I am reluctant to create more networks that take up even more of my time. But, I loved today's content about using media to engage kids. I know I need to speak their language, and this seems to be a huge part of the vernacular.

I, too, see technology as being super important in the classroom. I never really thought about how devastating it could be for a kid to be physically disconnected from his/her devices. Lots of food for thought today.
