Chaos in Learning

Learning can come from chaos. Chaos can show that everything is connected and that learning stems from everything in our world. To think about chaos in a classroom can cause alarm. When I was in school, chaos was this horrible word that people shouldered at the word. Chaos was frowned among. Today it is this new theory in learning and the connotation around chaos has begun to change.

Chaos can help to stimulate problem-solving and one's own inquiry into something students are passionate about. It encourages students to learn on their own and learn in a way that is best for them. It also changes the role of teachers. Teachers were the know all, experts who had the task of regurgitating the information. Now students have all the information at their fingertips. It is a teacher's job and encourage inquiry into new subjects and teach them to develop skills they will need in the future. Since the idea of learning is changed, the one teaches has to change with it.

  1. I like your points about how chaos used to be so frowned upon; it is so crazy how something that used to be seen as bad is new viewed as the new best thing. You are so right about how the role of the teacher has changed and I like how you state what that new role is. Is there a way we can combine chaos and structure in our classrooms?
