Global Collaboration

I think one of the most amazing benefits that technology brings is the ability to communicate and collaborate with people all over the world. It would be so amazing to have students in the US work on projects with students in a different country. This would be great in second language classes or project based classes. Imagine if you had students learning Japanese collaborate with students in Japan learning English! Or imagine if you had students from different countries working together to build an app or a research project. Technology has not only given us all the knowledge in the world, but also the ability to collaborate with anyone anywhere! (That is, as long as they have wifi and a device...) Since we are preparing students for "the real world" we know that they need more than just content knowledge. They will need to know how to communicate and how to work on a team. Why not make things even more interesting and have students collaborate with kids that don't go to their school? It doesn't have to be students in a different country, it could just be students in a different school or different city.

  1. Hi Lily,
This was definitely one of the most intriguing and exciting parts of the two days of learning for me! I agree that it would be so beneficial to students to give them the opportunity to collaborate with students across the world! They would be gaining so many useful communication skills and of course the ability to see the world from a different perspective. I really like your idea of having students who are learning a language like Japanese collaborate with Japanese students who are learning English. I feel like you're onto something! Excellent thoughts and ideas.
