Technology can do Wonders!

Technology can do wonders! Throughout my undergraduate career, technology modified how I did things as a student. One example is the fact for a group project, I never even had to talk to my group in person much less meet in person. Google slides made it so we could communicate online and all work on the same document from wherever we were. Another great thing about tech was that for research papers, I never once had to step foot in the library. Everything was online. Also, I didn't have to waste my time skimming documents to see if they were relevant. All I had to do was know how to use the find feature on a document. Technology modified how I completed the assignments.

Teaching is a different perspective though. I have not seen how technology has really modified teaching. I had a teacher use his smartboard as another whiteboard. Used whiteboard markers and everything on it. I hope I can use technology to provide different narratives outside of the US for my social studies courses. I want to connect with other people and find sources from other governments that provide a different perspective than the US. It's not new, but it will hopefully modify how students think about during research or modify the biases that they have.

This class help to modify my thinking about teaching and learning. Technology can play a big part in helping students learn, however, I have to think about it differently since it is not what I am used to.

  1. Hi Paige,
I appreciate you comments on how you've seen technology used in your education. I can relate to not being exposed to much technology from my teachers. I had never used a Google Doc until I got into college and I don't know that I've ever seen a Smartboard used correctly. It is amazing how many resources are out there that educators aren't using yet. I'm excited to see that this class has given you ideas about how you want to further student learning with technology and I enjoyed reading your thoughts!
