Learning about the usefulness of Wikipedia and having someone attest to its authority was really satisfying!!! I wouldn't have made it through school without Wikipedia so I loved hearing the side of the argument that is for Wikipedia. I have only ever heard "don't use Wikipedia" because of the lack of reliability however, after learning about the rigorous process that articles go through I can't think of a reason not to use it. The FA rated articles are especially useful because I know that they have gone through such a rigorous process to receive that rating!
Discussing social media was also interesting, I personally don't delve too far into social media and I take great pride in being able to say that all I have is a Facebook account. Twitter, Snapchat, blogs, websites, instagram or whatever else is out there just seems unnecessary to me. I already don't like to spend too much time on Facebook so why would I want to try and manage even more social media accounts! I understand that I may have students who will make an account for me in secret but I'm not sure that it warrants making my own account just because of that. I will keep my ears and my mind open to it but I'll need to talk with more teachers first to see if it's really necessary.
