I was having a little trouble conceptualizing Connectivism, but as a very visual person the diagram above helped me to understand the methods and goals of Connectivism. In this visual, learning is centered around the student who is trying to discover their identity and how they fit into the world. Their choices in their learning process allow them to play off their own strengths and expand their autonomy. As they understand their identity more, they are able to express themselves creatively in the learning process and show their unique ingenuity. All of this is done by experiencing the world and experimenting globally with their peers. As teachers, we would guide their exploration in a way that helps students to see the abstract connections between the many things they are learning. Additionally, reflection is a huge tool with this type of learning so that students can come to know themselves as learners. When people know how they learn and how to connect themselves online, they will be able to use this to learn any new information or skills they might need for college, their career, and beyond. This is not a totally accurate or complete description of Connectivism, so please feel free to disagree or add ideas!

Leah, thank you so much for the visuals. My understanding of connectivism has deepened. Learning types were not really a big thing way back when I was in school, so I never learned what type of learner I am. After looking at your post, I think I am also a visual learner. It just really clicked. I understood the concept, but being able to put better words to it really helps. I too hope that my students will feel that our classroom fosters all of these concepts.
