Honestly, the article that we read last night was way over my head. I think I got the gist of it, but I am still very confused. I guess I have always learned that learning does take place within a person, so it was hard to comprehend what they meant about learning taking place outside of people. I can see how information can be stored outside of people, like in books or computers, but I don't see how stored knowledge in these objects is considered "learning."
From our fish bowl exercise we talked about the difference between the capacity to learn and the importance of what you already know. Myself and most of my group agreed that being able to learn was more important than what you already know. In regards to technology, it is more important to know how to find information than to already know it or remember it. So then it makes sense to teach kids how to access knowledge and technology is one very good way to do it. When I begin teaching in the classroom I hope that I can incorporate some of the new technologies that we learned about. This is a monumental task for me, as I consider myself pretty terrible at technology. For the sake of my students, I am going to try my best, and just like the video from this morning, I may fail most of the time, but I'm not going to let that stop me from being successful!
