Don't underestimate the "G"

Image result for google G

One thing I am frequently surprised at is the lack of awareness people have for of all of the tools that Google provides. Recently, I began using Google calendar, Google tasks, Google scholar, Google docs and Google news. All of these (especially scholar, tasks and calendar) have made graduate school significantly easier. Even in my personal life, my wife and I can share and combine our schedules. The unified accounts and overlapping services make it very easy to coordinate all aspects of my education. I often wonder why schools throw so much money at comparable computer programs and databases when google offer provides similar or superior services for free.

  1. I agree Kiel! Why pay so much money for the Microsoft suite package, when google is offering almost the same thing and more for free? I didn't use anything of google's besides searching and email for the past few years. But in the past 6 months, I've started to use more and more of their programs in my life. Just when I think I've got most of their programs figured out, someone shows me ANOTHER program they offer for FREE that I can use for school, work and life. For example, Marshall showed me the other day Google Speed Read, it helps you read and skim documents really fast to find important information faster and more efficiently.
