I also enjoyed learning about all of the different ways we could utilize Google. Using the different (+,-,*) and learning their functions. When I type in Site:______ it will pull up articles from other places such as, New Zealand. We are lucky to live in a place where we can travel to a different part of the world to get information under a minute. There are a lot of people in this world, that means there are many different viewpoints other than ours and it is great to be able to view the different ways people are looking and thinking about things from all over the world at the tips of our fingers. I cannot wait to learn more about all of the Google functions and Google resources we as educators can use in our classroom. Monday, July 15, 2019
Wikipedia as a CREDIBLE source & What doesn't Google do?
Who knew Wikipedia could be utilized as a credible source in the classroom? Personally, I love Wikipedia, because it gives me the information I need right away and I do not have to go searching through a ton of reading to find the one item I need. All of my years in the classroom as a student, to include up to two weeks ago from a professor, I was told Wikipedia is not a reliable source. It is not a reliable source, if you do not know how to use it, but today in just THREE clicks I figured out how to verify what I was reading on Wikipedia was credible or not. I cannot wait to help future students utilize Wikipedia in the classroom for research papers or assignments.

Love that you found this part of the day useful. Two great skills that no matter the subject you teach you can always find a way to use it with students.
ReplyDeleteHey Madison,
ReplyDeleteMy mind did experience a couple of mind blowing moments during the class time. My mind was blown about the information we learned from Wikipedia since I was also told constantly that I could not use Wikipedia as a source. The Google tricks/shortcuts were also pretty amazing to learn.
I really enjoyed seeing your pictures that corresponded with the information you learned. I am glad we all got to experience this together.
