Skype Interviews

Long ago, before there was skype or video webcams, people would communicate through email or the dead space of an AOL chatroom. Now however, you can use webcams to have live conversations with someone over the internet. According to SAMR, I would like to create redefine what it would mean for kids to connect with other students in their grade-level around the globe. Much like they did thirty odd years ago, students can connect with other students by becoming a pen pal. Using skype as a medium of communication, I would pair students with other students around the globe by using the hashtag #comments4kids to find volunteers; then have each student interview their "skype pal" asking questions about where they live, what they like, etc. I feel this is a great way to get students connected with other people around the world and to broaden their scope to a global scale.
