Plays nice with others!

When I first looked at the syllabus and saw we were going to be interacting with Twitter I was a little curious as to how that would be at all beneficial for me as an educator, but after today, I'm thinking Twitter will definitely be a tool I will use in my classroom. It's great in so many ways. It will give my kids some feedback from sources other than me, which will give them very unbiased information. I also think it's a great way to show kids how small our world has come with the development of technology. Within minutes they could have their work read by someone hundreds of miles away, or even halfway around the world. I think having kids be aware of other cultures and things of that nature is really important, and I think Twitter might be a really cool way for some of those conversations to get started. Here is a link to the student blog that I commented on from Twitter.

I was also really impressed with the new knowledge I gained from learning how to navigate Wikipedia more efficiently. There is a lot of really helpful information listed on that site, and it's also a great site to get you pointed towards other articles and websites that are informative and documented on the topic. I love collaboration and that's pretty much what Wikipedia is....a bunch of people adding information to topics they are already passionate about. That leads to some pretty good information.

  1. I like your ideas and thoughts about both Twitter and Wikipedia. I was also surprised at how these resources could be used in the classroom. I think both of these would be a good way to have students in your classroom contribute to the world though the classroom's conversations.
