Social
media is a great way to get student involved in a positive way. The majority of
students already have some form of social media, so incorporating social media
for education purpose is awesome. It allows the students to connect with people
from all around the world and provides them the opportunity to highlight their
work. On the contrary, it allows them the opportunity to view other student’s
work and use that as a resource for them. As for teachers, it’s a great to view
other students work and maybe grasp ideas from their work. The use of social
media is just another opportunity for teacher to connect with their students,
because connections are key in education. The best part is its free resources
for both the students and the teacher.
I agree Mariano. I thought it was a really cool way to get right down on a student's level so relationships between the teacher and student are strengthened, but all the while have it be really beneficial as well! I'm wondering if this is something you would use in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteVery astute observations, Mariano! I had a lot of negative preconceptions about social media and it being intermingled with education. I agree completely that having students show their work online can be very empowering for students. Yes, I am also curious how you would implement social media usage in your classroom. From a K-1 perspective I am having some trouble crafting some ideas.
