As a history teacher I see google search as my gateway for primary sources. Primary sources are sources that come from the time of the event being covered. Using google search to find newspapers from the time of the event would be a wonderful way to show students how the event was covered at the time. Wikipedia on the other hand is a great place to find secondary sources. Secondary sources are sources that have been written after the event. Wikipeidia is not only a fabulous source for summaries, but it is a great place to find secondary resources. I also liked the idea of WikiJunior. What student wouldn’t be thrilled to create a Wikipedia page on a history event?

Sources....SOURces....SOURCES!!!!
I enjoyed this class thoroughly. I already consisted myself pretty techie (great word to look up on google) but this class gave me ample amount of ideas for my classroom. I was never shown the google tip of using site.gov/.edu/org to search for specific sources. I just graduated from college I was not give that kind of information. I loved the idea of being able to compare information from different parts of the globe. I spent most of my time during this lesson looking up how southern states teach the American Civil War. There are some differences, thats for sure.
