ISTE standards are education technology standards that transform learning and teaching. These standards are trying to empower and connect learners in a connected world. Their are seven standards, the first is empowered learning which gives leverage technology to take an active role in learning science. The second is digital citizen, this is when students recognize their rights through technology. Knowledge constructor is the third one and it talks about a variety of sources that students can use by using digital tools. The fourth one is innovative designer, this is where students use a variety of technologies to solve problems. Computational thinker is the fifth one. This is where students develop strategies for understanding and solving problems in ways that leverage the power of technology. The sixth one is creative communicator, where students communicate and express themselves creatively through technology. Lastly the seventh standard is global collaborator, this is when students use digital tools to broaden their perspectives and enrich their learning.
I found these standards to be very interesting because I had no idea that we had technology standards available for both teachers and students. Some of these standards I thought would be very useful in the classroom, but other standards I was unsure how to implement them into the classroom, as well as how students would understand them.
The ISTE standards are interesting. I didn't know about them either. Yet like you, I will use some of them for sure. The others I will think on how to best implement them...Hmm.
