Kids are all image, am I right? Turns out that they are. Images are everything. Bombard (word of the day) them with images along with their words. Google is more than looking up cat memes, and using GPS to get to that house party that you just have to be at. I searched google today harder than I ever have and I wasn't even looking for anything. I know I'm of a generation (X) that has resisted the full embrace of what the digital age has to offer but between showing the search parameters of Google and that Wikipedia can, in fact, be considered a credible reference if you use it correctly. It, literally, blew my mind. I had a hard time focusing because I started to see the possibilities of everything that was being shown.
I found myself searching far into wikipedia today after we were first introduced so I understand your struggle with focusing. Even after all we learned today, and all we will learn tomorrow, it is crazy to realize how much more is out there and we barely touched the surface. At home I have an excellent source of my sixteen year old sister whom I am constantly asking her to explain stuff to me. It does not take being generation (x) to be out of the loop. I was in high school just over ten years ago and it is a completely different world now, much of that thanks to the use of technology.
