I love the idea of using technology in the classroom. We all
know that students are going to use technology in the classroom, teachers can
no longer fight cell phones. If you can’t beat them, join them. Teachers can do
this by including and requiring technology to be used in the classroom.
Some people may think that Earth science is boring. This is
completely false in my opinion. To get student excited I would love to take
them to national parks. However, I highly doubt school budgets will allow for
this. I think having students pick and create an educational video on the geology
of a national park would be a fun way to use technology in classroom. They
would do the research and decide what geological features of the park they
would want to show in their commercial to get people to come to the parks. I
love this idea so much I wish I would have gotten to do it when I was in
school!
I completely agree with Kaite! If you can't beat them, join them on using technology in the classroom. I really like your idea on taking your students to national parks to see Earth science in its element. Having kids create a video is a creative concrete way for kids to learn, and retain that information taught.
