Social Media in Education

Social media is a platform for communication that I have only used in my personal life.  With the way that technology is growing, it only makes sense that it is starting to be used in the classrooms now-a-days.  I think that this is a great way for students to express themselves.  Not only can you, as a teacher, create an assignment for your students with social media, but you are using a platform that they are familiar with and tend to like.  Gives the students a little bit of motivation for the assignment and relieves a little bit of anxiety.  I think that sharing ideas on twitter using "#comments4kids" for feedback from people around the world can be a very nice tool to use.  The more and more technology and social media grow, the more effective this will be.  I also like the use of this as an formative assessment to see the students understanding of the material that I am teaching them.  Overall, I believe that social media is a great tool for teaching and with the way that our world is going, it will only become more and more effective.
