"Google Killed Wonderment"

There were many things in class today that I found interesting. To begin, I really enjoyed learning about the just-in-case model versus the just-in-time model of education. Creating a just in time learning environment will encourage our future students to find the importance in what we are teaching to them and allow them to invest themselves more fully into the content as there is a practical purpose behind it.

Additionally, I feel like I began to learn how truly amazing Google is today. There are so many little elements to a Google search that I had never paid attention to, like how most searches take less than one second to perform, you can control what year you want to see information from, you can look back on just about any newspaper ever published and find exact information from that time - it is all amazing. Learning that you can gather information from other countries just by typing in two letter country codes also really struck me today.

With this amazing technology though, comes some down falls. One of these downfalls is characterized by what Jeff said, "Google killed wonderment." It is true - we do not wonder anything anymore. This really opened my eyes to the fact that I never have to question anything, I can simply look it up and know the exact answer instantly. This made me want to be more intentional about wondering and taking my time to find answers. We are all so used to instant gratification these days, it would be a nice change of pace for my brain to actually explore questions and ideas for a little bit before finding the answer.
