Behind the Curve

This morning of the class included some compelling information. If I placed myself somewhere in the curve for the lifecycle of adopting new ideas, I would fall somewhere in the category most older people fall into--between the late majority and laggards. I am not an anti-technology Luddite, but I am usually pretty content with the status quo of my lifestyle and the things I have--you could also just say I am cheap.

Your question about whether we are preparing students for your past or their future resonated with me. Despite having smartphones and computers, I was still educated according to the rules of an analog world. I want to recreate a classroom from my childhood. As a prospective teacher, I have always been excited about incorporating technology into my classroom but have lacked the knowledge to find a beginning point for achieving this goal. The first day of class was invaluable. The concept of incorporating traditionally taboo technology or information sources into our curriculum is ingenious. Students use their phones and research on google search, so why not teach them how to use it?
