This is a big question. Personally, I believe the future of education is social emotional learning and PBL with technology thrown in there as well. The pandemic obviously showed us that education without technology is kind of irrelevant now. At least technology in some capacity. I mean last year at my cousin's school, they didn't even really have snow days anymore they just had school from home days instead. We now have no excuse not to learn which may or may not be a good thing. I remember how exciting it was to see my school district's name slide across the bottom of the screen on the morning news and learn that I got to just make snowmen and drink hot cocoa all day, but now kids just shift their learning to their house instead of in the school physically.
Anyway I also think that project based learning is becoming a bigger deal as well because there is more research showing that when students are actively involved in their learning, they retain more information. That can involve technology too though in the Google Maps and Google Earth activities we did. The future is looking bright and I for one am excited to see where this ever changing career takes us!
I loved the snowman but also find it a bit sad that snow days could become a thing of the past! Kids still need a snow day every once and a while to drink hot chocolate and have neighborhood snowball fights. I agree that PBL is the future of learning and I am interested to learn new ways to incorporate PBL into current curriculum. Thanks for sharing, Alex!
