Wait... social media can be used for education?! Who knew. The skepticism that comes with social media in education baffles me sometimes. ALL technology can used for educational purposes. Instead of us being afraid of social media, we can tweak it in our own way to engage our future student's in what interests them! Something that really fascinated me was the resources available for teachers via Twitter. The teaching community on Twitter is amazing! The collaboration and sharing of lessons is endless. This is something that really excites me! Connecting students to the world via social media is something I want to incorporate. I want them to feel like they are adding their knowledge to society in some sort of way. It is important to feel like you have contributed to something, and I want to help create this in my class. The idea of students blogging and sharing their knowledge with people around the world will move mountains for my students, and hopefully inspire them to keep sharing their new findings!

Social media, people love it or hate it. I did not realize what a powerful educational tool it can be when intentionally utilized in the classroom. Who knew, is right!
