SAMR is great model to use in a classroom. I really like the
idea of idea replacing written work with technology. I think the biggest
benefit is being able to have resources available for students 24/7. I remember
when I was in elementary class and middle school one of the hardest things for
me was keeping track of my homework. Having a safe place to access that information
minimizes students losing their homework. It’s also a great opportunity for
students to be connected with their teachers outside of the classroom. Being
able to help them or provide resources, so that they can work or reflect on
their work is a great benefit for them and the teacher. It can minimize the
amount of blank work because as a teacher I can assist them outside of class
without having to be in person.
I think a great way for me to implement SAMR in the classroom
is by using an app that allows students to connect outside of the classroom.
For example, having them do their work electronically and saving their work, so
that they can access it outside of the classroom. This will allow the students
to collaborate and help each other outside the classroom. As a teacher, I can
also review their work and address any common problems I see by the students.
It’s a great way to empower my students and encourage collaboration while minimizing
the paper work at home. ECO friendly!!

I like how you have thought of ways you will incorporate SAMR for your classroom and what you would do as a teacher. You did a great job addressing the modification you would make in your classroom. How do you plan you will use redefinition in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteI did not even think about the environmental impact of using technology in our classrooms. It reminds me of what Dave said in Math about how much money school districts waste in copying curriculum. Schools would have to spend more money upfront, but that initial investment would pay huge dividends down the road.
ReplyDeleteGreat point! Learning doesn't have to stop outside of the classroom. With google dox students can collaborate and share knowledge with others in real time. Imagine a weekly tutor, or content specialists. How empowering it would be for a student to help their peers with homework online? you need help, log on a t a certain time and ask all the questions you want! Both students would benefit greatly. Plus, you, as the teacher, could access and review everything the students went over, and clear up any misconceptions.
