I watched a video today of a teacher that used ipads in her creative writing lessons. It was a pretty awesome way to do creative writing! She started out having the students compare and contrast characters in their favorite books. They did this by taking pictures of the characters and drawing on the pictures the things that were the same, or different about each one. Then they recorded their voice talking about the characters and the books. They described the characters and then summarized the book. They used a couple different programs to do this and then they would load their final projects onto the seesaw app. Then she had her students start writing and illustrating their own book. They again used the ipads and apps and drew all the pictures for the book, and used their own voices to narrate the book. Again, they loaded their final work onto the seesaw app when they were completely done.
I thought this was such an awesome way to work in technology in creative writing. I would've LOVED this as a student! She had the students working and exploring in three different apps, and working on an ipad the entire time. I felt like it was a pretty good use of technology and definitely hits the Modification stage, but I'm not quite sure it hit the Redefinition stage.
Erika, what an awesome way to teach analysis of creative writing. Instead of the classic "write in your notebooks," you noticed that this teacher brought reviewing a book alive with the simple use of an Ipad.
ReplyDeleteHow would you move this into the redefinition stage of SAMR if you were teaching something similar?
