We can't stop... We won't stop!

Today I was introduced to another set of standards... except this time they were focused on integrating technology in my teaching and having it be part of my students' learning. Throughout my coursework this semester, I have noticed that there are standards for almost everything. To be honest, it can be overwhelming to know that as an elementary teacher I have to be up to date with so many. However, my plan is to find creative ways to make sure my students are receiving the best education possible. The ISTE standards for students' overall concept is something I really like because student voice is put first. I truly believe it's important for kids to be able to have the freedom to drive their learning. I also found it very helpful to know that there are ISTE standards for teachers. I think it is important for teachers to also be aware of these standards and be excited to find ways to apply the use of technology is their classroom. Some students are already in schools where this is happening, and I personally would love to work at school where technology is seen as a tool that adds to the learning experience of a student. If the school I work at does not have a strong presence of technology in the classroom, I would really like to advocate for using it more because I am starting to see how there are so many ways to use it as an educational tool. Overall, I am glad to know that these standards exist both for students and teachers, and am starting to realize that we are all life-long learners because the learning never stops. It can't stop!
