Connectivism provides insight into learning skills and tasks needed for learners to flourish in a digital era. It is based on the concept that our ability to learn what we need for tomorrow is more important than what we know today. Teaching students to pass certain tests does not communicate that very clearly. Allowing students into certain universities based on certain test scores does not measure that very clearly. What would an education system look like that reflected testing and capturing the abilities of students in more ways than math, science, reading and writing?
How do we as educators recognize the standards students need to meet and build their skills and abilities beyond the ACT, SAT, SBAC, etc.?
We have a responsibility as teachers to educate our students to the best of our ability. If we want our students to be successful, teaching them through the learning process of how to make decisions, research, and move beyond our conventional concepts of teaching, that, will change the world.

Information and knowledge is growing at an exponential rate and it is so important to have the ability to know how to acquire the knowledge we will need for tomorrow
ReplyDeleteWe don't have to know and memorize everything, but we do need to know how to find information that is valid and true. I can see you being a teacher who will change the world.
