Flexibility of modification

The possibilities for modifying classroom curriculum is not only endless, it's necessary. Students are not all made the same, and therefore cannot learn the same. As teachers we need to be ready and willing to be flexible and come up with different kinds of strategies to come alongside students. Technology is such a fantastic tool to do this, that it should almost be given not as a "we need to come up with a modification for this one student who has an IEP of 504," but rather an option at the onset of the assignment for each student to decide which of the varying options is best for them. If we have our classrooms set up as a perpetual modification, then students will always have an option for how they want to precede. As a write it, however, I do question whether this method would be too cumbersome for students. We have practically had it beat into us that structure and stability are best for students, so would having the method that students are able to absorb content go against this grain? Or would it play into reducing anxiety and creating a classroom setting that is conducive to learning? I'm not sure, maybe someone can chime in.
