Teachers are making a collaborative effort—across time and space—to improve their teaching practice and profession. According to Carina Wong, how are they using technology to do this?1) Teacher-leaders are raising their profiles.
2) Teachers are expanding their professional networks.
3) They’re problem-solving collaboratively in real-time.
4) They’re making their needs known.
5) They’re becoming inspired and equipped to change their practice.
6) They’re taking on leadership roles.
7) They’re bonding and sharing stories.
Teachers are using technology to make a huge difference in their classrooms. As future educators, we need to make sure we are passing the same skills and strategies on to our students. We need to empower students to make their needs known, help them bond and share stories, and encourage them to take on global leadership roles. How awesome would it be if every senior graduated with their own learning network and influential online presence? We can help get them there by modeling appropriate social media use as teachers and practicing it as a class. I cannot wait to have a list of usernames and passwords for different class social media accounts in my room someday.
