We either thought we were digital natives and thought we knew everything about tech, or we want to jump in and see how this goes! I am stuck somewhere in the middle, but I think social media is a really interesting tool to use. Social media is our reality as teachers, and we have to face it head on if we hope to reach our kids. I lean more towards the second video, where I want to go in and see how this goes. I totally am okay with failure in the class when it comes to technology, but I want the students to help me along the way. I have all of those social media sites, but don't use them. Little did I know they would be an integral part of the learning process! Or as I still remain skeptical, I want to stress that it CAN be useful, but can go wrong really quickly.
I loved how we translated how to use writing skills into how we use it in social media as we can use it to apply it to our students everyday life. The story of the Youtuber who was struggling in school, and then was taught how his lessons could further that career he already carved out, is super cool to think about. I really want to think about that in my classroom.
Kylor, this is so great!I love these visuals that you included because they are totally #relatable and entertaining as heck. I am right there with you that I feel somewhat stuck somewhere in the middle of all this knowledge of technology, but I also feel like I have SO much to learn (especially after today's class). Here's to learning the ropes and becoming technologically savvy!
