Burst my Bubble

Burst your "Filter Bubble" to Make Better Decisions | Inc.com

Now that I have taken some time to reflect on the first day of class, I am beginning to fully realize how out of touch I am with education technology and how to apply technology in a classroom. This class blew my mind when it comes to different applications to use in a school. The sense of amazement was dampened a little when I talked to a friend who is already a teacher. She knew all about Flipgrid, has done blog posts in her English class, and uses interactive powerpoints like our “Portfolio of Learning.”

The conversation put this class into the context of the larger education community. I left the class feeling like what we learned was on the cutting edge of technology, just to realize it was just as much an introduction to the tools teachers now use in their classrooms every day. The conversation made me more grateful for this class because it forced me to appreciate how lost I would have been without just two days of instruction on Education Technology. Furthermore, I know that these tools are not optional and, instead, it is necessary to become proficient in Edtech to be a successful teacher.
