Collaborative Notes and their benefits

The morning lecture was incredibly influential on how I viewed student collaboration during the teaching. The schools I went to for my elementary through high school prized students who could figure out what was the best way for them to participate during classroom learning. There was no option for the students to learn collaboratively. If students were able to write their notes on a document that could have been shared with the rest of the class, it would have helped consolidate the learning targets for the entire class. In my classroom, this will definitely be something that I consider using to help increase student understanding. If a student gets the material the first time around, it saves them and me as the teacher a lot of frustration on the back end trying to get the information through to them. It also can give the classroom a better sense of community building of they feel that they are working together to increase learning, instead of going at it alone.
