Even if old school teachers do not want to admit or accept technology in the classroom, it is coming whether they like it or not. With this theory of connectivism we no longer have to teach inside four walls. It is time that the education system in America catches up with the business world and evolve to include more technology in our learning process. We can use ISTE standards as guidelines to help build and introduce new technology to our students. If we have the ability to instantly connect and learn from someone across the world shouldn't we? instead of reading about a different culture in a book why wouldn't you just talk to someone already immersed in it and get a first hand perspective. Or instead of using hypothetical scenarios writing to public figures to address issues important to students, we have the capability to go strait the source to express our views. We owe it to our students to broaden their horizons and see the world through different lenses. Plus we need to make what students are learning and make it applicable to real world lessons that they can learn from and use for the rest of their life.

Teachers Tear Down Those Walls

Hi Cody,
ReplyDeleteAn excellent introduction to your post, "Even if old school teachers do not want to admit to or accept technology in the classroom, it is coming whether they like it or not." I like that but also knowing that I have a mix feeling about the whole idea of technology introduced in the classroom for facilitating purposes makes me realize what a limited time if any that the old school teachers need to be abreast with time before they are outdated. Once again, I like the passion that you put out there to support the Connectivism theory. Thank you.
