Teaching Social Media is scary but I think it is so important to give students resources to be successful in society. Unless the internet blows up and we never remake it, it is here to stay and students will be on social media to some extent for the rest of their lives. Therefore, why wouldn't we teach it? I also think that it would be easy to integrate into other subjects. In science, you can teach how scientists publish their work. In social studies, you can look at how people connect through tech and social media. In civics, you can show students how to contact their representatives. There are endless possibilities and it will help students become ready for their life after school. I think it is time that we incorporate student's lives into our teaching.
